What Teams Are There

To better serve the growing EDS dance community, we seek improvement to build the community teams every year! 
For details of each team, please read the following details carefully.

EDS Crew

EDS Crew’s the competition team of EDS. Its mission is to stay centered as individuals who consistently push their dance growth and support each other along the way while enjoying dancing to its full capacity.

Team Expectations

  • EDS Crew represents the highest caliber in dance choreography at Enjoy Dance Studio. We aim to recruit dancers who are dedicated, skilled, passionate, and aligned with our goals and vision.

  • The team environment asks for dedication and commitment from its members in hopes to fuel and inspire each other. We encourages members to be team players who take ownership and can provide unique contributions to the space.

  • Throughout the season, you will be expected to build upon your current dance repertoire through training and conditioning, create meaningful connections with others, enhance your own relationship with dance, and perform at a higher level at any dance opportunities with EDS Crew.

Audition Detail

  • Age Requirement: 18+

  • Audition Rules:

    • Auditionees MUST attend the in-person audition on 9/20.

  • Before and on Audition day

    • Complete the Application Form under My EDS -> My Profile -> My Applications.

    • Register EDS Crew audition session through my.eds.dance which costs 1.5 studio class points, or Venmo $28 at the door.

  • After Audition day

    • You will be notified with the results within a week through email.

Audition Agenda

2:30 pm - 3:00 pm | Check-in: bring a government issued ID.

3:00 pm - 3:10 pm | EDS Crew Introduction

3:10 pm - 5:30 pm | Choreography Learning: 8 to 10 8-counts choreography, 2 to 4 8-counts of freestyle.

5:30 pm - 6:00 pm | Practice

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm | Audition process w/ filming: not facing mirror, 5 people a group, each group has 2 runs.

7:00 pm | Closing remarks and announcements

Scoring Criteria

Auditionees will be evaluated based on various criteria, including Choreography Detail Pick-up, Movement Quality (Body Awareness, Textures, Musicality, etc), and Performance.

Audition Fee

Studio Class Pass 1.5 points or $28 walk-in.

Monthly Fee


EDS Crew members are expected to pay a $50 monthly tuition. The tuition will cover studio rentals for trainings, inviting teachers, director salary, special events, competition registration fee, costumes, etc.

Rehearsal Schedule

Mondays 7:45pm - 10:45pm

Weekly mandatory rehearsal at EDS Fremont.

Wednesdays 7:00pm - 9:30pm

(Optional) self-practice session at EDS Cupertino (might be used for rehearsal for set building season).

Saturdays 12:00pm - 3:00pm

(Optional) crew member sharing slot at EDS Cupertino.

Crew members can sign up to share their work to the public (might be used for rehearsal for set building season).

EDS Fam

The primary objective of the EDS Family is to harness the power of dance video projects and captivating stage performances to inspire and drive personal growth. Through dedicated team training, enthusiastic class participation, and diligent routine practices, we are dedicated to assisting each member in unlocking their true potential as a dancer, taking them to new heights in their dance journey.

This year, we are excited to introduce five sub-teams: Street Dance, K-Pop, Heels, Chinese Fusion, and General.

Each group will be guided by dedicated leaders with focused training. To ensure fairness and efficiency in scoring, audition times will be scheduled according to the dance group you wish to join, as follows:

Sub-Teams

Kpop

EDS Family’s K-pop Subgroup is dedicated to celebrating K-pop culture through performance, community, and connection. Its mission is to bring together dancers who share a love for K-pop, consistently challenge themselves through dance covers, and contribute to the local K-pop events while having fun along the way.

Chinese Fusion (风华录)

EDS风华录 — “风”拂柳絮舞翩跹， “华”彩流光映九天。

Team Expectations

Fenghualu Crew represents a new frontier of cultural fusion at Enjoy Dance Studio. We aim to bring together dancers who are passionate about sharing Chinese culture through movement, while embracing the versatility of jazz, hip-hop, and other modern styles.

Heels

EDS Heels Team is a passionate and driven heels dance team dedicated to empowerment and growth. Heels isn’t just walking pretty—it’s strength, control, and attitude wrapped in artistry. We live for the grind in the studio, the magic on stage, and the growth that happens in between. Our mission is to cultivate a supportive, inspiring space for dancers to push their limits and shine individually and collectively. Most importantly, we want everyone here to enjoy dancing.

Street Dance

Welcome to EDS STREET DANCE! We are a street dance team from EDS Dance Studio, dedicated to preserving and promoting the authentic culture of street dance. We believe that street dance is more than just movement—it’s a lifestyle and a legacy. This year, we’re proud to launch five divisions—Hip-Hop, Breaking, Locking, Waacking, and House — each led by a passionate leader.

Preserving authentic street dance culture

  2. Training in old-school foundations

  3. Practice, exchange, and cultural growth

Audition Requirements

Your solo performance cannot be a dance cover. It must be either an original choreography or freestyle.

General

If your dance style is not listed above, you can still join the EDS Family by participating in the general audition.

Audition Detail

  • Age Requirement: 16+

  • Audition Rules:

    Each dancer may audition for up to two sub-teams.

    1. Primary choice — This audition must be attended in-person.

    2. Secondary choice — You may attend in-person, or submit a video to the application.

    3. You may select the dedicated audition time slot for each team. If you cannot attend a team-specific slot, you may sign up for the General time slot instead.

    4. Candidates auditioning for a sub-team must perform the corresponding dance style.

    5. Please note that you must attend at least one in-person audition for a sub-team.

  • Performance Requirements:

    • 45s - 1 min original choreo or dance cover.

    • Submit your music file with the application, and ensure it is cut to no longer than 1 minute.

Scoring Criteria


Each sub-team’s scoring criteria will be set and announced by its leader, covering aspects such as body awareness, textures, musicality, control, performance, and creativity.

Responsibilities and benefits

  • Attendance of FAM training/sharing

    		•  In addition to family member's responsibility, crew members will have:

  • Mandatory Weekly Rehearsal
  • Weekly self-practice session (not mandatory but recommended)
  • 1-2 Big competitions/showcases per year

  • Free Studio Access: FAM can reserve the studio for practice during designated times at no cost
  • Class Pass Booster: FAM can enjoy a 20% booster on Studio Class Passes (e.g., buy 100 pts and get 20 pts for free) , except for single walk-in passes (1pt/1.5pts/2pts). This benefit can be applied multiple times throughout the fam year.
  • Free FAM training/sharing
  • Access to EDS organized private events
  • Opportunity for leading performances, and holding FAM sharing session
  • Merchandise Discount: 10% off on any new products released starting in October 2025.

    You must have a My EDS account to sign up for auditions.

    When and How will I Know the Results

    The results will be commented by email by the end of the following days:

    • EDS Crew: 9/27/2025.

    • EDS Fam: 10/12/2025.

    FAQ

    • Participation in the EDS FAM is free of charge.

      For EDS Crew, whether or not you audition, a fee of 1.5 class points or $28 (payable in cash or via Venmo) is required.

    • Yes, we welcome dancers of all styles and strive to create an inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy, share, and grow. However, please be aware that all EDS Crew members are expected to learn choreography and perform with precision and quality during performances and showcases.

    • Yes, all EDS Crew Team members are automatically considered part of the EDS Family.

      If you do not pass the EDS Crew audition, you will still need to participate in the EDS Family audition to qualify.

    • Please note that we prioritize in-person candidates. If you are applying for or renewing your EDS Family membership and cannot attend all time slots, please contact us via WeChat or email. We may consider accepting a video submission, though you may be required to complete a make-up audition in person.

      Unfortunately, we cannot offer the same accommodation for the EDS Crew audition.

    • Unfortunately, there will be no makeup auditions this year.

    • You may join up to two sub-teams.

    • If you cannot attend the dedicated sub-team audition slot, you may sign up for a general slot instead. We have one available on each day (9/27 and 9/30).

    • Absolutely. We welcome English speakers and currently have many English speaking members.

      While most of our dancers are Chinese speakers, they are comfortable communicating in English.
